Police say 17-year-old girl stole items from numerous vehicles

Posted

On Friday, May 17, Barrington Police charged a 17-year-old Barrington girl with seven counts of receiving stolen goods, three counts of weapons other than firearms prohibited, mace used for other than protection or protection of others, and possession of marijuana-more than one ounce-first offense.

Police responded to a West Street business for a report of someone stealing items from a person’s vehicle.

Police later checked the business surveillance footage and identified a suspect. Officers responded to the suspect’s home, and later identified a number of items inside the girl’s room that had previously been reported stolen.

Police arrested the girl — she was placed in the RI Training School on an emergency order. Police believe there may be additional charges lodged against the girl in the near future.

Police said the girl was in possession of illegal knives.
