The Barrington High School baseball team swept Moses Brown in a pair of games last week. The Eagles won 9-3 on Friday and 5-4 on Monday. The victories improved Barrington’s record to 7-3.

In Friday’s home game, Barrington scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and then scored four more in the second to build a commanding 6-1 lead. Gabe Tanous went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs, while Matt Davis went 2-for-4 and drove in one run. JT Celico blasted an RBI double for the Eagles and also stole home in the bottom of the fifth inning. Harry Turner, who had been missing from the lineup earlier this season with an injury, returned and had a strong day with two hits and two runs scored.

Andy Fletcher recorded the win on the mound for the Eagles. Fletcher pitched five innings, allowing just four hits and no earned runs. Harrison Cooley pitched two innings in relief. He allowed just one hit, no walks, and tallied three strikeouts.

In Monday’s game at Moses Brown, Barrington opened an early lead and held on for the victory. Ned Shapiro went six innings for the Eagles and allowed just one earned run. The senior also struck out 10 Moses Brown batters.

Cooley picked up the save, closing out the game and spoiling the Quakers’ hopes for a comeback. Moses Brown had the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh.

Turner had another strong game at the plate. The senior had a single and a double and drove in a run.

Andy Fletcher pitched six innings of no-hit ball as Barrington defeated Mount Hope, 11-1, in a Division I game on May 4. The game was halted in the bottom of the sixth because of the Interscholastic League's mercy rule.

Fletcher needed only 64 pitches to complete the game and the run he allowed was unearned. In addition, he struck out six and walked only one Huskie.

Ned Shapiro led the Eagles (8-3) by going 4-for-4 (two singles, one double, one triple) with four RBI.

J.T. Celico was 2-for-2 with two RBI; Quinn Murphy was 2-for-3 with three runs scored; and Gabe Tanous was 2-for-4.

Harrison Cooley added an RBI double as the Eagles broke the game open early by scoring five runs in the first inning.
