City-wide Minor Softball Stars fall to Middletown in District 2 opener
EP Central/Riverside/Rumford team plays Tiverton next for chance to remain in tourney
Monday, July 1, the city-wide East Providence Central/Riverside/Rumford Minor Softball Stars played host to Middletown at Pierce Field in an opening round contest, which was won by the visitors 13-10.
The locals led midway through the contest 5-4 before Middletown rallied late to pull ahead for the victory.
EP starting pitcher Julia Machado threw four strong innings with six strikeouts and was followed by relief pitcher Madison Levesque with two strikeouts. On offense, Aster Bahan had a double and scored two runs while Riley Federowicz reached base three times and scored three runs.
The combined team roster included Rosalee Enos, Julia Machado, Molly Pita, Adeline Richards, Callie Sherman, Bella Sousa, Jolie Mowry, Aster Bahan, Lila Cabral, Kyley Cangiano, Riley Federowicz, Arabella Felisberto, Madison Levesque and Arianna Ribeiro. Jody Richards is the manager with coaches Alison Butler and Ashlie Cabral.
