Eagles improve to 5-4-1 after back-to-back shutout victories
Liv Morrissette scores five goals in two games to pace BHS girls soccer team
The Barrington High School girls soccer team outscored its competition 10-0 over the last two games.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Eagles defeated Pilgrim, 6-0. And on Thursday, Oct. 3, Barrington knocked off Mt. Hope, 4-0. The two wins improved Barrington’s record to 5-4-3 in the Division I standings.
Against Pilgrim, Liv Morrissette opened the scoring for the Eagles with a goal at the 11-minute mark in the first half. Mackenzie Lema scored her first varsity goal at the 18-minute mark. And Bailey Duncan made it 3-0 Barrington with a goal at the 21-minute mark.
The second half was all-Barrington also. Duncan scored 15 seconds into the second half and Morrissette netted her second goal of the game a short time later. Kate Pearse scored her first varsity goal of the season at the 86-minute mark. Hannah Carlotto played a stellar defensive game for the Eagles.
Morrissette had another strong game against Mt. Hope. The Eagles’ senior scored three goals against the Huskies — two in the first half and one in the second. Meanwhile Pearse added her second goal of the season. Julia Edgar-Smith and Maddie Kiely led the defensive effort for Barrington.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 10 when they host Lincoln High School.
