EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School Band, under the direction of Marisa Silva and assisted by Olivia Kleyla, held its annual spring concert Thursday evening, May 4, inside the new Elmasian Auditorium.

Some of the music the Townies performed was renowned composer John Williams' most noted series of pieces from the "Star Wars" movie franchise.

"Our concert was on May the 4th and if you are a Star Wars nerd, that date is known as a major Star Wars Day," Silva explained.  "Instead of 'May the Force' be with you, on May the 4th you say 'May the 4th' be with you.

"And as an added tidbit, May the 5th is known as Revenge of the 5th for the Star Wars movie called 'Revenge of the Sith.'

"The kids brought it up months ago and requested doing a Star Wars piece for the concert because of the date.  I thought it would be a fun way to end the concert."
