PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Tuesday, June 25

Michael A. Bucolo, 61, of 29 Pilgrim Lane, was charged with domestic simple assault. Officers responded to his home at about 2 a.m. after receiving a report of a physical altercation that had taken place hours earlier, police said. During the altercation, Bucolo allegedly pushed a 32-year-old Portsmouth woman to the ground, causing minor injuries. Bucolo was held over night at the police station before his arraignment in the morning, police said.

Joshua D. Sawtelle, 35, of 201 Pitman St., Providence, was arrested after officers responded to a Goularte Lane home around 7:35 p.m. to investigate a report of a domestic altercation. When they arrived, officers found a 40-year-old Portsmouth woman who had suffered injuries to her head and face, according to police. Officers determined that Sawtelle had kicked the woman in the face and punched a hole through the bedroom door, police said. The woman was also found to be the protected party of a no-contact order with Sawtelle, police said. Sawtelle was charged with domestic simple assault, domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property, domestic disorderly conduct, and two counts of violating a no-contact order. He was held at the station pending his arraignment the next day.

Rodriguez Mejia, 26, of 143 Coffin Ave., New Bedford, was hit with several charges following a reported hit-and-run accident with an attended vehicle in the area of Route 24 North and Boyds Lane at about 4:40 p.m. After speaking with witnesses and the driver of the vehicle that had been struck, officers found Mejia’s blue sedan near the park-and-ride on Boyds Lane. According to police, he provided officers with a false identification card while on the scene. Mejia was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense; leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in damage to an attended vehicle; and identify fraud, first offense.
