Tiverton, RI- Fernand “Mike” H. Michel (Gramps), 97, of Tiverton RI passed way at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday July 24, 2021 .  He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Motta Michel. Born in Fall River, MA he was the son of the late Ernest and Yvonne Michel, the brother of the late Hervey Michel and sister Florence Rancourt.

Gramps was a self-employed custom contractor/developer most of his working years.  After retirement due to health issues, he played an important role in guiding and helping his grandson at Kevin’s Professional Auto Detailing.  He was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and relatives, helping with cooking and preparing Sunday breakfast for everyone and anyone who just might be there at breakfast time. Gramps took great pride in keeping his property in tip top shape both inside and out. Those that knew him will always remember him as a happy, caring, generous person and hard worker always wanting the best for his family.

Gramps was a long-time member of the Tiverton Lions Club and served on the North Tiverton Water Board.  In his earlier years he was a dedicated snow plow operator for the town of Tiverton, and played an active role in Tiverton’s development over the years. In addition to his late wife of seventy-five  years: he leaves his daughter Cathy Nunes and her companion Kenneth Mello of Swansea, his grandson Kevin Nunes (the son he never had) of Swansea and his Great Granddaughter Emily Michel Nunes (the apple of his eye) also of Swansea. In addition, he leaves his Sister-in-law Gilda Motta of Tiverton (wife of the late Anthony Motta), and Sister-in-law Cecile (Tootsie) Michel (wife of the late Hervey Michel) of Connecticut, along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Calling Hours for Mr. Michel will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4-7pm in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10am in Saint John of God Church, 996 Brayton Avenue, Somerset.
