A former Bristol resident faces felony counts of rape and domestic assault by strangulation after being indicted by a Grand Jury last month.

The case began in June, when a woman reported to Bristol Police detectives that she had been assaulted by her then-spouse at various times over a six-month period. After further investigation by Bristol Police, the case was forwarded to the Rhode Island Attorney General for review. It was presented to a Grand Jury, and on Nov. 5, Tyler Baglini, age 26, now of Dartmouth, Mass., was charged with:

  • Domestic – First Degree Sexual Assault;
  • Domestic Assault by Strangulation;
  • Domestic Simple Assault and/or Battery ( 2 counts).

He was arraigned in Superior Court on Dec. 6, at which time bail was set at $30,000 surety. He later presented himself at Bristol Police Headquarters for processing.

A pre-trial conference in the case has been scheduled for Jan. 22.
