Letter: Memories of the childhood, and Westport Little League

Posted

In going through a 1974 baseball scrapbook belonging to my late father, Gary Jennings Sr., I came across these newspaper clippings and realized they were from 50 years ago! I remember spending lots of time at the Westport Little League fields as a young girl with my dad. The friendships that were forged then still exist today for many of the coaches and players. It was a time of simple pleasures enjoying the fresh air, friendships and teamwork that made the game of baseball competitive and fun for all.

The coaches and players were a dedicated group and some of that dedication has been carried forward today. These coaches and players, sadly a few have passed on were the epitome of what baseball should always be. A sport of fun and excitement for all! How I miss those days! I've attached a few of the newspaper articles for you to see. Have a wonderful summer!
