'Magic' fundraiser to support Villages

Posted

The Village Common of Rhode Island (TVCRI) of which the local Bristol-Warren Village (BWV) is one of 13 villages around the state will be holding their annual fall fundraiser, There Is Magic In Every Village, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.

The event directly supports the mission of fundamentally changing the experience of growing older by creating communities of mutual support (villages), reducing isolation, and honoring aging with dignity across Rhode island.

Bristol’s own Steve Aveson will be the emcee for this evening of community, celebration, and some fantastic auction baskets. In addition to items from villages around the state, the Bristol-Warren community has generously come together to donate auction items, including items from Metacom Kitchen, Caron Jewelers, Linden Place, Blithewold, Pivotal Brewing, Trágmar Aleworks, Grapes & Grains (Barrington), Long Lane Farm, Atwood Donnelly, Made in Warren, and more.

More information and tickets can be found at villagecommonri.org. If you are not able to attend but would like to support TVCRI, there is an opportunity to make a contribution under the “reserve your seat” tab on the event page.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
