Police trying to identify who left the note and ‘want to get them help’

Posted

Police responded to Barrington Middle School early Monday morning, Aug. 26, after a custodian found a suspicious note slid into the doors of the school.

Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia said the note is not specifically threatening in nature, but the author of the two-page note alleges being tormented or tortured during their time at the school. No other details of the note were released.

Chief Correia said police are trying to determine who left the note and officials “want to get them help.”

“There’s no reason to think that there’s anything” specifically threatening about the note, Chief Correia said.

Police said there are surveillance cameras located outside the middle school.

Investigators are reviewing footage from those cameras in an effort to identify the individual.

The first day of school in Barrington is Wednesday, Aug. 28.
