Screening of Girls State film and post-film conversation at Casino Theatre

This Thursday, May 9, newportFILM presents a screening of "Girls State," an Apple Original Film, which asks the question - What would American democracy look like in the hands of teenage girls? A political coming-of-age story and a stirring reimagination of what it means to govern, “Girls State” follows young female leaders - from wildly different backgrounds across Missouri - as they navigate an immersive experiment to build a government from the ground up.

Following the 96-minute film will be a conversation with one of the film's subjects and Girls State alum, Cecila Bartin. 

WHEN: Thurs, May 9 at 7:00 pm

WHERE: Casino Theatre, 9 Freebody St, Newport
