'The Bristol Expedition' comes alive at Coggeshall Farm
The sound of fife and drum music and the smell of gunpowder lingered over Coggeshall Farm this past weekend as “The Bristol Expedition,” a two-day-long history program recreating the 1778 British occupation of Rhode Island was held at the Farm, co-sponsored by Captain Tew’s Company (the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment).
Interpreting the life of troops and on campaign during the American Revolution, the weekend featured tactical demonstrations, lectures, a fashion show, artillery demonstrations, and domestic life during the American Revolution era. Participants included Peter’s Corps, King’s Rangers, 9th Regiment of Foot, Claus’ Rangers, Lexington Training Band, 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, 13th Continental, 4th Kings Own Regiment of Foot, 17th Regiment, Col. Bailey’s 2nd MA Regiment, 3rd Massachusetts, HM 24th Regiment of Foot, and Knox’s Regiment of Artillery.
