Warren police responded to a report of two neighbors banging on another neighbor’s door under the assumption the other person had stolen their cat.

Warren PD: Five arrests, and accusations of cat theft

Monday, Sept. 2
A bicycle was reportedly stolen on Locust Terrace at 8:13 a.m.

Police received a report that someone had attempted to shoplift from a shop on Main Street at 1:22 p.m. They reported that the suspect smashed a bottle and fled the scene.

Emergency personnel responded to an apparent overdose occurring on Beach Street at 4:31 p.m. They administered Narcan and transported the individual to Rhode Island Hospital around 5:22 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 3
A Cutler Street resident reported at 9:10 a.m. that they were being “harassed by an FBI agent.”

Emergency personnel responded to Cutler Street at 2:14 p.m. after a person was found deceased from an apparent suicide. The report indicates they were from Coventry.

A summons was issued for a man at 5:35 p.m. who was reportedly seen urinating in a parking lot on Main Street.

Police dispersed a suspicious person from Market Street at 11:40 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 4
Police dispersed a man from a Main Street address at 8:00 a.m. following a report that someone was sleeping in chairs set up outside the address.

A State Street resident contacted police at 7:03 p.m. believing to be the victim of blackmail via email, but police advised them it was a scam attempt.

Alexander Trevon Hill, 24, of 11 Charlotte Dr., Apt. #11, Bristol, was arrested on Cottage Street at 9:05 p.m. after allegedly failing to stop after police initiated a traffic stop. He was charged with eluding law enforcement (vehicle in a high speed pursuit, first offense), and driving without a valid license (4th+ offense). He was released following processing later tat evening.

Police responded to Child Street at 9:09 p.m. following a report involving a disturbance between neighbors. Apparently, two neighbors were banging on another neighbor’s door under the assumption the other person had stolen their cat. The police were able to determine that the cats had “the same markings but [different] eye color. Neighbor’s felines just look similar.”

Police dispersed a person described as homeless from a bench on Main Street at 11:47 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 5
Jasmine H. Brown, 24, of 37 Hawley Ave., Warwick, was arrested on Child Street at 1:07 a.m. after reportedly failing to stop for officers when requested. They were charged with possession of prohibited weapons other than firearms and obstructing an officer in execution of their duty. They were transported to 2nd District Court later that morning.

The animal control officer relocated a baby turtle that was found on the property of a home on Libby Lane at 7:59 a.m. Shortly after, at 8:44, the same home reported many more baby turtles on the property. The officer reported 15 turtles were relocated to the nearby swamp on the property, and advised the homeowner to do the same if they found more.

A lit cigarette caused a fire alarm and fire personnel response on Arlington Avenue at 8:51 a.m. The area was wet down but there was no spread or damage from the fire.

A woman advised police at 12:05 p.m. that she had seen someone try to cut out her catalytic converter on Central Street.

Police responded to Wood Street at 6:16 p.m. to serve no trespass orders to people allegedly living in the nearby woods.

Police received a report at 7:16 p.m. of a dark colored vehicle driving on the East Bay Bike Path. Barrington PD had received a similar report in their town further north. No one was found in the area.

A fire hydrant was reportedly knocked over near Main and Washington Streets at 11:20 p.m. Bristol County Water Authority was advised.

Friday, Sept. 6
Police looked for two people dressed in dark clothes allegedly looking into vehicles on Main Street at 2:02 a.m.

Jeremiah Bretzin, 24, of 91 Main St., Apt. #347, Warren, was arrested on a warrant out of Newport at 10:07 a.m. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct, both first offenses).

A brush fire was reported near a home on Harris Avenue at 1:09 p.m.

Police responded to Kenny Drive at 4:00 p.m. after receiving a report of multiple quads being driven in the road.

Saturday, Sept. 7
Police responded to Metacom Avenue at 12:35 a.m. following a report there was someone looking into vehicles. They were gone when police arrived.

A hit and run was reported on Metacom Avenue at 11:19 a.m.

Police dispersed a group of people who were reportedly fishing on private property on Water Street at 3:41 p.m.

Police intervened on an issue between two people on Joyce Street regarding the attempted theft of a bicycle at 7:21 p.m.

Police responded to Market Street at 10:37 p.m. for a report that a resident was seemingly burning furniture in the back yard. Police asked them to extinguish the fire, and it turned out they were burning storage containers.

Sunday, Sept. 8
Zachary E. Miller, 19, of 157 Warren Ave., Seekonk, Mass., was arrested following a motor vehicle stop at 2:08 a.m. near Main and Hope Streets. He was charged with driving while impaired (person 18 to 21 years old, first offense). He was arraigned and released later that morning.

Police responded to Child Street at 9:29 a.m. for a report of a possible shoplifting. They located the suspect, brought them back to the shop, and issued a no trespass order.

A 15-year-old juvenile was arrested on Metacom Avenue at 10:25 a.m. and charged with contempt of a family court order.

Police responded to Market Street at 8:48 p.m. for the report of a possible domestic situation, but it turned out to be juveniles playing video games loudly.
