Westport police respond to five larceny calls

Monday, Feb. 20

A caller from Route 88 and Drift Road filed an animal complaint just after 6:30 a.m. Police deemed it unfounded.

A caller reported a suspicious person on State Road just before 8:30 p.m.

Police assisted a motorist whose vehicle was disabled at Route 88 and Briggs Road.

A caller reported an accident on Adamsville Road at 10:09 a.m.

Police investigated a suspicious car on Osborn Street after getting a call at 5:46 p.m.

A caller reported a motor vehicle infraction on American Legion Highway at 10:09 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles and issued one citation throughout the course of the day.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

A caller reported a suspicious car at Route 88 and Hix Bridge Road at 7:18 a.m. Police deemed it unfounded.

Fire crews were dispatched to a car fire on Route 195 at 8:12 a.m.

A caller from State Road reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 4:24 p.m.

A caller reported an accident on Sanford Road at 5:50 p.m.

Police pulled over one vehicle and issued one citation throughout the course of the day.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

A caller reported a hazard at State Road and Bower Avenue at 1:24 a.m.

A caller from Reed Road lodged animal complaints at 10:18 a.m.

A caller from Sullivan Drive reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 10:30 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles and issued one citation throughout the course of the day.

Thursday, Feb. 23

A 911 caller reported a neighbor dispute on Tickle Road at 12:21 p.m.

A caller from Drift Road reported solicitors at 12:44 p.m.

Police assisted a motorist whose car was disabled at State Road at 12:59 p.m.

Police tried but were unable to serve a restraining order on Gifford Road at 1:32 p.m.

Police assisted a motorist whose car was disabled on State Road at 2:33 p.m.

Police investigated a report of suspicious activity on Davis Road, after getting a call just before 3:30 p.m.

A Hix Bridge Road resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 3:57 p.m.

A caller from Drift Road lodged animal complaints just before 5 p.m.

Police served a restraining order on Gifford Road at 6:13 p.m.

A Sullivan Drive resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 8:38 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a driving infraction on Drift Road at 8:48 p.m.

Police pulled over vehicles and issued citations throughout the course of the day.

Friday, Feb. 24

A caller from Brayton Point Road asked polcie to keep the peace just after 1 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on State Road at 1:28 p.m.

A caller from Sanford Road reported receiving threats at 3:53 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an accident on Sodom Road at 8:26 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious car on Drift Road at 9:33 p.m.

Police pulled over 11 vehicles and issued seven citations throughout the course of the day.

Saturday, Feb. 25

A 911 caller reported an accident on State Road at 9:43 a.m.

A 911 caller asked police to keep the peace on Blossom Road at 10:16 a.m.

A caller reported a disabled vehicle on Route 88 just after 10:30 a.m.

A Crane Avenue resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 1:27 p.m.

A caller reported a hazard on Charlotte White Road at 3:37 p.m.

A caller reported a disabled vehicle on Drift Road at 6:31 p.m.

A caller reported an accident on Russell Street at 7:16 p.m.

Police pulled over two vehicles and issued two citations throughout the course of the day.

Sunday, Feb. 26

Police investigated a suspicious vehicle on StateRoad at 1:41 a.m.

A caller reported a disturbance on Old County Road at 12:45 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious car on Florence Lane at 2:49 p.m.

Police pulled over three vehicles and issued one citation throughout the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
