Democrats came away from Tuesday’s election with a 4-1 majority on the Little Compton School Committee, in unofficial results as of 10:15 p.m. The partisan breakdown mirrors that of the Little Compton Town Council race.

Democrats Andrew Rhyne (1,186 votes), a former budget committee member, and Nicholaus Carter (1,145 votes) won two of the three open seats on the committee, with Republican Brian K. Snow (945 votes) earning the last spot. Independent incumbent Mark Gleicher (930 votes) finished out of the running.

The three winners will join incumbent Democrats Amy Gleicher and Susan Chase, whose seats were not open this year.

Leaving the school committee are Travis Auty, the former chairman and chair of the Democratic Town Committee, who left the school board to run a successful campaign for Little Compton Town Council, and his counterpart, Republican Town Committee chairman Michael Rocha, who also left to run for town council. Rocha finished eighth out of eight candidates in that race.
