Warren man dies in Tiverton motorcycle accident

Posted

A Warren man died Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle just before noon on Route 24 in Tiverton.

Tiverton police said Joseph Morris, 48, was traveling north when he veered off the highway while traveling on his Harley Davidson just south of Exit 1A, on the Massachusetts line. The motorcycle struck high tension wires off the highway shoulder in the high speed lane at approximately 11:44 a.m. Witnesses stopped to assist and provide medical aid until Morris was transported to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, where he succumbed to his injures a short time later.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and Tiverton police ask that anyone who witnessed the crash, or has any information on it, contact Officer Nicole Beauvais at nbeauvais@tivertonpoliceri.com or Detective Daniel Martin at dmartin@tivertonpoliceri.com.

Responding Tiverton police officers were assisted on the scene by members of the department's accident reconstruction unit and members of the Tiverton Fire Department.
