Domestic offenses, DUI top Portsmouth police report

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests reported by The Portsmouth Police Department:

Thursday, Sept. 10

April L. Landry, 21, of 162 Lonsdale Main Street., Lincoln, was charged with violating a no-contact order following an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Department’s Detective Division that led to an an arrest warrant being issued. Landry was taken into custody at 10 a.m. at 2nd District Court in Newport by the Rhode Island Sheriffs Department police said.

Friday, Sept. 11

William R. Gomes Alvizures, 51, of 55 Powel Ave., Newport, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense. Gomes Alvizures was pulled over on West Main Road at Almeida Terrace at about 2:10 a.m. after committing multiple moving violations, police said. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Saturday, Sept. 12

Jason Paul Quartermouse, 52, of 230B Forrest Ave., Middletown, was charged with domestic simple assault and/or battery, first offense, and domestic disorderly conduct. Officers initially responded to a Flint Corn Road home shortly before midnight on Sept. 11, after receiving a report of a domestic assault. Quartermouse had left the scene by the time officers arrived, but was arrested in Middletown at about 12:30 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
