Question: Do you think Barrington government reflects the values and priorities of Barrington residents? Should it?
Jarrod Ryan (R) — “Our current government is polarized and divisive. Despite their basic priorities and values are shared with residents (schools, sports, preservation, etc.), their decisions on matters have created pain and division among residents in our community. Our public servants should objectively focus on bringing our community together within our priorities.
Braxton Medlin (D) — “Barrington government reflects the values and priorities of Barrington residents because our neighbors elect leadership. Our neighbors also sit on the 22 boards and commissions. As Chair of the DEI Committee, I see first-hand the hard work and sweat equity everyone, whether elected or volunteer, puts into town governance.”
Ray Clark (R) — “I believe that the town government should focus on the efficient delivery of effective government services. The priorities of the voters should always be heard and fully considered. One reason I chose to run for office is a desire to help identify and deliver on voter priorities.”
Kate Berard (D) — “From my perspective? Yes. Do I agree with everything? No; that’s not the touchstone. Our council is responsible for making value judgments as representatives that reflect the community collectively. The more input our residents can provide as to desired policy direction, the better those interests are represented in that decision-making.”
