Warren Police made two arrests and responded to a call after someone apparently had a bad reaction to mushrooms.

Warren PD: Two arrests, a dumpster fire, and a bad trip

Monday, July 8
A caller on Main Street reported at 8:20 a.m. that a worker from a construction crew had thrown a “powdered toxin into his eyes”. The building official was advised.

Police made a wellness check on Child Street at 10:43 a.m. after it was reported a woman was intoxicated while at a drive-thru window earlier that morning. Police found no one at the home.

Tree branches fell onto a vehicle on Franklin Street at 7:03 p.m. causing damage.

Tuesday, July 9
A dumpster fire was reported in the parking lot of the Bank of America ATM on Child Street at 12:11 a.m. The dumpster was reportedly totally engulfed, but was extinguished shortly afterwards.

Police dispersed someone from the Park N’ Ride on Franklin Street at 12:51 a.m.

Police found a syringe on Main Street at 8:10 a.m.

Police dispersed people at 9:54 a.m. who were fishing behind a Main Street property who were not invited to be there.

Rhode Island Energy was called after what was thought to be a power line had fallen down onto an occupied vehicle on Locust Terrace at 1:43 p.m. Authorities found out the wire was thankfully a cable line from Cox.

A 15-year-old juvenile was arrested on Metacom Avenue at 7:53 p.m. and charged with one count of vandalism.

Wednesday, July 10
Police spoke with a man who appeared to be passed out on Water Street at 12:19 p.m. He refused a ride to the hospital.

Police received a report that a vehicle stuck another in a lot on Metacom Avenue and left the scene at around 2:20 p.m.

Warren PD enlisted the help of Providence PD to make a notification of someone who was suspected of fleeing the scene after an accident near Metacom and Parker Avenues at 9:52 p.m.

Thursday, July 11
Staff at an assisted care facility reported at 11:39 a.m. that a man claiming to be representing the U.S. Census Bureau had been in the building after hours the prior day.

Police received a report that there were two separate vehicles in the area of Wood and Barney Streets at 12:02 p.m. that were using the same registration.

A Vernon Street resident reported at 4:14 p.m. that ashes from a nearby open burn were flying into their yard and pool. Police advised the neighbor of the complaint and they extinguished the fire.

Police responded to Water Street at 10:05 p.m. for a noise complaint. Readings were at 50.1 decibels and within the requirements of the noise ordinance.

Friday, July 12
A caller reported at 9:54 a.m. that their vehicle had been struck while they were inside the post office on Railroad Avenue. The person who supposedly struck the vehicle had apparently fled the scene.

Police responded to Market Street at 12:56 p.m. following a report that a garage door had been tampered with.

A person reported at 2:21 p.m. that their vehicle had been keyed near Market and Turner Streets.

A woman reported to police at headquarters at 2:37 p.m. that there was a man waiting at a bus stop on Main Street who was touching his groin area while staring at her. Police went to the area and didn’t find anyone.

A caller reported the description of a possible drug deal on Water Street at 3:29 p.m. but police found no one in the area when they responded.

Saturday, July 13
Police responded to Main Street at 12:36 p.m. following a call from someone who had taken mushrooms and stated that their “hands and feet are swelling”.

An Oyster Point resident reported at 11:39 a.m. that a large amount of jewelry had gone missing from the home.

A manager of a store on Child Street reported a counterfeit bill at 2:25 p.m.

A stolen package was reported on Main Street at 4:34 p.m.

Staff of a Metacom Avenue business reported at 10:12 p.m. that there were unknown people shooting fireworks in the direction of the business. Police didn’t find anyone in the area.

Sunday, July 14
Police responded to Sisson Street for a skunk that was caught in a trap at 8:45 a.m.

A person came into headquarters at 9:31 a.m. to report that there was a homeless person sleeping on the second floor porch of a building on Cutler Street who was also defecating on the property.

Yaltsin A. Anicet, 32, of 419 Metacom Ave., Apt. #REAR, Bristol, was arrested on an active warrant by Bristol PD at 10:51 a.m. He was transported to Warren headquarters and charged with one count of reckless driving and other offenses against public safety (first offense). He was arraigned and released later that evening.

A caller reported an emaciated dog on Kinnicutt Avenue at 1:56 p.m. The animal control officer transported the dog to Bay State Veterinarian for care at 2:17 p.m.

Police dispersed a woman who was loitering on Joyce Street at 4:19 p.m.

A caller requested police to check on someone who appeared to be sleeping under a tree on Cole Street. Police confirmed he was okay and dispersed him from the area at 8:07 p.m.
