Barrington Police deal with multiple dog-related incidents

Dog attacks woodchuck, and another dog struck by car

Sunday, July 7 was a busy day for dog-related incidents in Barrington. Early in the day, a dog was found wandering loose in the area of Whipple Avenue. The dog was later returned to its owner.

A short time later, Barrington Police responded to Anoka Avenue for a report of dog that attacked a woodchuck. The dog killed the woodchuck, police said.

Also on Sunday, July 7, a person called police around 9 p.m. after she was backing up her vehicle and struck her friend’s dog. The person told police she went to check on the dog and it bit her. Police said the incident occurred on Sixth Street and involved a Golden Doodle dog.

Previous incident

A person called police at around 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, and reported seeing a dog walking in the middle of the roadway near the intersection of County Road and Old County Road.

Police responded to that area and searched for the dog but could not find it. At about that same time, a person called police stating that a family member was watching her dog and the animal had just gotten loose and run off.

Later that morning, an officer on patrol located a dead dog on the Wampanoag Trail near the Osamequin Bird Sanctuary. Police said the animal matched the description of the missing dog.
