Barrington Police are searching for a man who stole an American flag from the front porch of a County Road home on Thursday, June 30.
Police shared surveillance camera photos of the suspect — “a white male, slender, under 6 feet, (wearing a) T-shirt and shorts… glasses.”
Police said the man approached the home at about 6 p.m., climbed the front steps, and grabbed the American flag. The homeowner opened the door during the incident and spoke to the man, but he just walked away, waving the flag and smiling, police said.
The resident called police right away and officers searched the area, but could not locate the individual.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Barrington Police at 401-437-3935 or the confidential tip line at 401-437-3933.
Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia said the crime was especially egregious considering the Fourth of July holiday.
