Last week, the Barrington High School boys ice hockey team defeated Smithfield 2-1 after an overtime shoot-out.
The Eagles and Sentinels were locked in a scoreless tie through the first period, but Adam Gorman gave Barrington a 1-0 edge with 3:01 remaining in the second period. Henry Kelsey and Trevor Snow assisted on Gorman’s goal.
Smithfield tied the game with 5:18 left to play in the third period, and the score remained tied through the end of regulation. Neither team was able to score in the 4-on-4 overtime period, forcing a shoot-out.
Cody Wood scored the Eagles’ first goal in the shoot-out, and Snow had the second.
Brock Carroll netted the game-winner on the Eagles’ final attempt.
Barrington Coach Jacob Kapstein said the team’s goaltender, Cam Siwik, also played a great game against Smithfield.
The Eagles improved to 4-1 in Division I and Smithfield dropped to 4-3.
Barrington will play against Moses Brown on Friday night, Jan. 19.
