Giant pumpkins return to Warren

Frerichs Farm celebrates its 40th anniversary by hosting the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. The day will be filled with giant pumpkins food trucks, and family fun.

The weigh-off spectacle begins at noon. Last year’s champion pumpkin tipped the scales at more than 2,000 pounds. In 2025, a world record was set for a green squash of 2,200 pounds.

Kid-friendly activities include a free corn maze, the pirate ship, pumpkin rides, and a western town to explore. There will also be live music and food trucks.

WHEN: Saturday, Oct 10; 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

WHERE: Frerichs Farm, 43 Kinnicutt Ave., Warren

ADMISSION: Free; parking is $5 per vehicle (cash only)

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
