The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommended reopening a number of beaches across the state, including Barrington Beach, Thursday, June 30.
RIDOH officials shared a press release Thursday afternoon, recommending Oakland and Conimicut Beaches in Warwick, Barrington Town Beach, and Larkin Pond Association Beach in Kingston be re-opened for swimming because bacteria counts have returned to safe levels.
The beaches had been ordered closed to swimming on Tuesday, June 28.
"RIDOH officials will continue to monitor and review beach water quality through Labor Day," stated a press release. "The status of a beach may change as new data become available."
The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH's beaches telephone line (401-222-2751). A list of closed beaches can also be accessed at health.ri.gov.
