Barrington Town Council Question of the week

Posted

Question: Is there a particular issue that motivates you to serve?

Neile Hartman — Independent:

More than any single issue, I'm running to improve HOW our town is governed. Too often, consequential decisions lack sufficient analysis, meaningful public engagement, or serious consideration of alternative viewpoints. Residents deserve leadership that listens, welcomes healthy debate, and respects taxpayers. Whether discussing budgets, municipal services, or long-term planning, improving HOW we make decisions improves EVERY decision we make. That's the transformative change and independent thinking I'll bring to Town Council.

Anthony Arico — Independent:

As a lifelong Barrington resident, I’m motivated by the need for greater transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility in our town government. Residents deserve leaders who listen, respond to concerns, and put taxpayers first. Recent issues with town services have highlighted the need for stronger oversight and better communication. I’m running because I believe Barrington deserves leadership that is accessible, responsive, and committed to making decisions in the best interests of our community.

Jessica Martin — Democrat:

Keeping Barrington a community where people can build a life—and afford to stay—motivates me to serve. As a parent and family law attorney, I see how schools, housing, and financial pressures shape families’ lives. Meeting those needs takes collaboration among the Council, School Committee, and our dedicated town boards and committees. I want to strengthen that partnership, listen to residents, and make thoughtful decisions that keep Barrington welcoming and affordable.

Braxton Cloutier — Democrat:

What motivates me most is the opportunity to make a difference in the community I call home. Serving on the Council has taught me that leadership isn't about winning every argument or having everyone agree with you. It's about listening, respecting different perspectives, and making thoughtful decisions, even when they're difficult. I don't always get everything right, but I approach this work with humility, compassion, and a genuine desire to preserve what makes Barrington special.
