So I'm seeing signs about town: “Approve Proposition 7,” “Vote for People, Not Parties.” Catchy.
I would like to point out that Thomas Jefferson was a Democratic-Republican. Alexander Hamilton was a Federalist. James Madison, who helped draft the U.S. Constitution, was a Democratic-Republican. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a Democrat. Arthur Sherman was a Republican. Dot Edwards was a Republican. Tom Levesque was a Democrat.
I'm assuming that Mrs. McDowell, having been in town for only 10 years, may not know those names. But I do hope there are enough people who remember that they voted for the last three people because they knew they were people of integrity and trusted that their governing philosophy matched their party.
