Posted

Newport Vineyards is hosting its ninth annual Harvest Festival this Sunday, Oct. 25, from noon to 5 p.m. Expect live music, time-honored harvest traditions, friendly competitions, and plenty of fall fun among the vines.

Tickets are $35. Each ticket includes five tastes of wines, ciders, or beers, plus a commemorative glass to take home. Additional drinks will also be available for purchase.

Live music will be provided by Straight Outta Rehab all afternoon. Food is available for purchase.

Competitors for grape stomping and stein hoisting will be selected from interested participants in the crowd. Activities include:

• Axe Throwing (12-4:30 p.m.): Channel your inner lumberjack and test your aim.

• Grape Stomping (1 p.m.): Roll up your pants and get hands-on (or feet-on) with a classic harvest tradition.

• Costume Contest (2 p.m.): Go all-out in your best Halloween gear for a chance to take home top honors.

• Stein Hoisting Competition (3 p.m.): Test your strength and endurance in the ultimate battle of grit.

Tip: It is highly suggested that guest bring their own chairs and blankets.
