Police arrested four people between Aug. 5-11, 2024, and responded to multiple calls regarding vandalism.

Warren PD: Two men arrested after fight outside Papa Gino’s

Monday, Aug. 5
Police received a report of a malnourished cat on Water Street at 12:06 p.m. A neighbor supplied the animal with food and water and a notice was left at the door of the assumed owner.

A caller reported at 5:56 p.m. that they had received a call from a neighbor indicating someone was attempting to break into their home while they were away. Police found no one at the scene after arriving.

Fireworks were reported near the Warren Portuguese Soccer Club on Child Street at 11:02 p.m. but nothing was found at the scene.

Tuesday, Aug. 6
Police dispersed a man in the area of Main and Jefferson Streets at 10:11 a.m. who was reportedly asking people for money.

An injured squirrel was transported to the animal shelter at 12:14 p.m. following a report at Kickemuit Village.

A Wheaton Street caller reported a suspicious vehicle that was loitering in the area at 11:20 p.m. Police learned they were residents of the area that had recently got a new car.

Wednesday, Aug. 7
Police dispersed someone from Burr’s Hill Park at 12:19 a.m. following a report of a suspicious vehicle.

A dog bite was reported on Main Street at 1:22 p.m. The incident had occurred some time prior.

Police responded to Market Street at 3:55 p.m. following the report of a physical altercation between two men. One man refused a ride to the hospital.

Cody M. Joly, 18, of 25 Homestead Ave., Warren, was arrested following a report that someone had pushed their grandfather following an altercation, causing a head injury. He was charged with assault on a person in excess of 60 years old causing bodily injury, simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and transported to the ACI later that evening.

Thursday, Aug. 8
Police looked for a man at 1:45 a.m. on Main Street who was reportedly “singing Happy Birthday and using hate speech.” He was gone from the area when they searched.

Police dispersed a man who had set up a hammock in the pavilion area of Burr’s Hill Park at 8:32 a.m.

Police received a report that a grocery cart had been stolen from Tourister Mill LLC on Main Street at 11:43 a.m. The item was later returned to the owner.

Identify theft was reported on Kinnicutt Avenue at 2:34 p.m.

A Main Street resident spoke to police at 11:23 p.m. about someone harassing their dog walker.

Friday, Aug. 9
A caller reported at 11:35 a.m. that a woman was rummaging through cars at the Tourister Mill.

Kelli McGowan, 40, of 700 Metacom Ave., Apt. #224, Warren, was arrested following a report at 1:16 p.m. that a woman wearing their son’s clothing had entered a home on Baker Street and stolen items. She was charged with unlawful breaking and entering of a dwelling, first offense, and simple assault and/or battery. She was arraigned and transported to the ACI early the following morning.

David B. Barros, 58, of 8 Lawn St., Bristol, and Bruce G. Stanzione, 37, of 70 Oliver St., Bristol, were both arrested at 7:49 p.m. following the report of a fight outside Papa Gino’s on Metacom Avenue that reportedly involved pepper spray. They were both charged with one count of simple assault and/or battery and one count of disorderly conduct.

Saturday, Aug. 10
A man was transported to the hospital for an evaluation after it was reported he was sleeping on a porch on Main Street at 12:32 a.m.

A car reportedly had its tires slashed on Metacom Avenue at 7:27 a.m.

Someone was advised to return to the DPW yard at 10:09 a.m. after they were reported to have driven off from the transfer station.

Sunday, Aug. 11
Police received a report that a customer had started a verbal altercation with staff at Papa Gino’s on Metacom Avenue at 3:03 p.m. over a food order.

Possible vandalism to a vehicle parked at Jamiel’s Park was reported at 5:14 p.m.

Loose goats were reported on Birchswamp Road at 7:15 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 12
Police checked on a Vernon Street resident at 1:08 a.m. and 2:28 a.m. following multiple reports that there was a suspicious man on someone’s property.
