Warren police logs: Cows on the loose and a car off the road

A Parker Avenue resident called police after hearing an argument in a neighbor's home just after 7:30 a.m.

A DPW employee found a laptop computer while working on Asylum Road.

A worker on Market Street reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a company truck parked on the property.

Police looked for but could not locate two erratic cars called in by fellow motorists on Child Street and Metacom Avenue.

Police officers safely got a child out of a car on Cutler Street after a mother called them to say she'd accidentally locked it inside.

A passerby flagged down an officer on Hope Street and asked him to check on a child she'd heard crying on Norbert Street. The officer found a few children playing in a pool, but that was it.

A caller complained about a man walking and yelling on the Warren River Bridge.

Megan E. Comella, 37, of Bristol, was pulled over on Metacom Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, second offense.

An anonymous caller reported a mother yelling at her young daughter on South Cornell Avenue. Police confirmed that mom and a guardian were trying to calm down the unruly child.

A caller complained that several car owners at a car meet on Metacom Avenue were revving their engines.

Donald L. Cunningham, 44, of 12 Sowamsett Ave., first floor, was charged with resisting arrest, possession of a weapon other than a firearm and disorderly conduct, after several callers complained about a disturbance on his street.

Tuesday, May 18

A caller spotted a sick fox on Bradford Street.

A Vernon Street caller complained that her brother spit in her face.

A 911 caller received a hangup from a Main Street woman; the operator called back and verified she was having an issue with her boyfriend. Police responded but by then, the man had left.

A caller complained that cars were cutting through a field on Cutler Street to get to Napolean Street. Police noted the area in question is a right of way, so there was no problem.

A caller reported a person sleeping on a bench in a park on Serpentine Road.

A woman complained that two juveniles yelled obscenities at her and at kids running track on Orchard Avenue.

A caller complained that heaters were blocking the sidewalk on Miller Street. Police arrived, and the heaters were removed.

A Kelly Street resident called police an hour after a car alarm started blaring and wouldn't stop.

A caller complained about an erratic driver on Miller Street.

An Elm Street woman asked for help with her unruly child.

A Main Street resident complained of construction noise just before 9:30 p.m. It turned out to be people working on a food truck. They were advised and said they'd clear out in 15 minutes.

Wednesday, May 19

Signs were reported knocked down at Child Street and Long Lane.

A Bagy Wrinkle Cove resident called police after spotting a sick or injured fox.

A firearm was reported stolen from a Birchswamp Road residence.

Police spoke to a Miller Street establishment's owner regarding tables obstructing the sidewalk, and though the infraction had been called in by a resident, noted that no violations were seen.

An Arlington Avenue caller told police that an intruder had entered the apartment through a rear window and vandalized it.

A loud music complaint came in from Market Street just before 11 p.m.

Thursday, May 20

James M. Medeiros, 39, of Bristol, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, first offense, after police pulled him over on Franklin Street at 12:11 a.m.

An officer spotted "multiple cows on the loose" while patrolling at Touisset Road and Barton Avenue. The owners were contacted.

Joseph A. Squatrito, 35, of Bristol, was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or canceled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue just before 11 a.m.

At least one person was transported to the hospital with head injuries after two bicyclists collided on Beach Street at 11:16 a.m.

Mario R. Teixeira, 62, of 201 Schoolhouse Road, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after several callers reported just before 4 p.m. that there was a car stuck off the side of the road on Schoolhouse.

Friday, May 21

Police were called to Birchswamp Road for a neighborhood dispute.

A caller complained that a group of kids were blocking the bike path at Hope Street.

A loud music complaint came in from Locust Terrace just after 9 p.m. Similar calls came in over the next two hours from Long Lane and Schoolhouse Road.

Saturday, May 22

Police were called to Market Street for a shoplifting incident involving a juvenile.

A caller complained about an erratic driver headed toward Bristol on Metacom Avenue.

A dirtbiker was reported for riding through the cemetery on Massasoit Avenue.

An Almeida Drive resident extinguished an open burn after police paid him a call; they'd been alerted by a neighbor.

A caller complained about the volume  of a band playing at a Metacom Avenue establishment.

Multiple callers complained about fireworks on Wood Street, but police found nothing.

Paul J. Sousa, 48, of Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of alchol, BAC .15 or greater, after a car stop at Water and Miller streets at 9:09 p.m.

Sunday, May 23

John L. Truver, 38, of 1103 Hope St., was charged with driving with a suspended, revoked or cancelled license, third or subsequent offense, after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue at 2:57 a.m.

An anonymous caller complained of loud music on Sisson Street at 3:16 a.m.

An Arlington Avenue man reported just before 9:30 a.m. that his roommate had just been assaulted by another tenant in the same building.

A Lincoln Avenue woman complained that her kayak was missing from her yard.

A caller told police that he was being harassed via text message. An officer tried to call back, but it went right to voicemail. As a result of that call, Ryan Vazquez, 35, of 140 Market St., was charged with indecent exposure/disorderly conduct, first offense.
