Posted

The Town of Warren will begin its 156th Memorial Day Remembrance on Sunday, May 26 at 9:00 a.m. with the Memorial Recognition Program to be held at the Town's Vietnam Memorial Marker (located at the junction of Route 136 and Market Street).

On Monday, May 27 Naval Honors will be rendered at the Town Wharf at 7:45 a.m. for all Navy veterans. Following this ceremony, at 8:15 a speaking program and military honors will be held at the Town Common and Honor Roll. (Please note: This program will replace the one traditionally held at the South Burial Ground).

This program will feature town, state and local officials, student speakers, and military officials. The Principal Speaker for this event will be HM2 (FMF) Joshua Chiarini, USN Ret. (EMT-C), who is a Silver Star Recipient, the 3rd highest award for Valor in Combat.

Chiarini is a veteran of three combat tours in Iraq assigned as a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Hospital Corpsman with USMC infantry companies in and around the Al Anbar province, later known as the Sunni Triangle of Death. He was also deployed to Guantanamo Bay’s “Camp X- Ray,” caring for some of the most dangerous enemy combatants worldwide. Chiarini has been assigned to the North Providence Fire Department for the past 12 years as a Firefighter/ EMT Cardiac.

Following the speaking program and Military Honors the Memorial Day Parade will commence at 9:00 a.m. Please observe the photo with this story for the updated parade route.
