Westport police logs: DUI arrest

Monday, Oct. 7

A Second Street resident complained of excessive noise at 6:10 a.m.

A Monroe Street caller asked police to keep the peace at 10:39 a.m.

Animal complaints came in via a 911 call from Old Bedford Road at 11:12 a.m.

Police served a restraining order on Monroe Street at 7:15 p.m.

Police pulled two vehicles over over the course of the day, issuing two verbal warnings.

Tuesday, Oct. 8

A Highland Avenue resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 1:02 p.m.

A Plymouth Boulevard resident reported a dispute with a neighbor at 5:48 p.m.

Police pulled over eight vehicles and issued six citations over the course of the day.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

A Main Road resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 11:08 a.m. A similar call came in from State Road at 4:30 p.m.

Police served a restraining order on Plymouth Boulevard at 4:30 p.m., and reported also serving one on the same street at 5:43 p.m.

Police pulled three vehicles over over the course of the day, issuing three verbal warnings.

Thursday, Oct. 10

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Sanford Road at 12:45 a.m.

A caller from Shirley Street reported breaking and entering at 10:10 a.m.

A Village Way resident asked police to assist with an unwanted person at 4:12 p.m.

A 911 caller lodged an animal complaint from the vicinity of Fisher Road and White Oak Run at 5:04 p.m. A similar call came in from Coggeshall Lane at 6:49 p.m.

Police pulled one vehicle over over the course of the day, issuing a verbal warning.

Friday, Oct. 11

Police initiated a motor vehicle pursuit on American Legion Highway at 9:36 a.m., but had no further details.

Police served a summons on Reed Road at 12:40 p.m.

An East Beach Road caller reported a disturbance at 2:08 p.m.

A State Road resident asked police to assist with an unwanted person at 6:18 p.m.

Police pulled over four vehicles over the day, citing driver, warning two others and issuing a report on the third.

Saturday, Oct. 12

Linda Fatima Silveira, 47, of 45 Seaview Terrace, New Bedford, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and cited for a marked lanes violation, after police pulled her over on State Road at 1:35 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from American Legion Highay at 7:10 a.m. and 8:51 a.m., and from Pratt Avenue at 5:17 p.m. and Sodom Road at 6:04 p.m.

A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on State Road at 9:39 a.m.

A Briggs Road resident complained of identity fraud at 2:30 p.m.

Police were asked to keep the peace on Russell Street at 7:04 p.m.

Police responded to a disturbance on State Road at 11:10 p.m.

Police pulled over eight vehicles over the course of the day, citing two drivers and issuing six citations.

Sunday, Oct. 13

A caller from Davis Road reported a suspicious person at 1:31 p.m.

A 911 caller reported an assault on Hix Bridge Road at 9:39 p.m.

Police pulled one vehicle over over the course of the day, citing the driver.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
