Barrington’s sense of community is dear to candidates

Barrington Town Council Question of the week

Posted

Question: What do you love most about Barrington and why?

Jessica Martin — Democrat:

What I love most about Barrington is our sense of community and commitment to equality, diversity, and open-mindedness. It is a place where neighbors show up—for our schools, local organizations, town boards, veterans, and one another. Jeff and I chose to raise Elliot and Beckett here because Barrington combines small-town connection with a commitment to its children. That spirit of service and belonging makes this town feel like home - and the beach!

Anthony Arico — Independent:

As a lifelong Barrington resident, what I love most is our town’s charm and strong sense of community. From our beautiful town beach and historic Town Hall to our outstanding schools, library, parks, and walking trails, Barrington has so much to offer. But what truly makes our town special is its people—our families, young athletes, seniors, and veterans. It’s a welcoming community where neighbors care about one another, and I’m proud to call it home.

I hope residents vote for me for town council!

Neile Hartman — Independent:

I love Barrington’s strong sense of community. I especially treasure our neighborhood of 36 households tucked along dead-end streets. We know each other’s kids, grandkids and dogs, celebrate milestones, socialize, and look out for one another. When Covid shut down our small business, leaving us facing an uncertain future without income, a neighbor offered us a blank check. I’ve never forgotten that extraordinary kindness. We should all look out for each other like that.

Braxton Cloutier — Democrat:

What I love most about Barrington is its sense of community. There is something special about a town where neighbors look out for one another, and people genuinely care about where they live. I appreciate the shared values of kindness, service, and looking after one another that make this community special. My husband grew up here, and being able to contribute to a place that meant so much to him, and that we now share together, means a great deal to me.
