To the editor:

The Town Council will hold a Public Hearing on next Wednesday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. to consider changing zoning laws for Brady Sullivan Properties, LLC at Robin Rug.

Please join me in asking the Town Council to delay their vote because they lack the information they need to make an informed decision.

When Brady Sullivan submitted required reports, two of those reports were recycled documents from 2008. The Fiscal Impact Statement they submitted used old data. Some reviews of that statement have found that using current data, Brady Sullivan’s plan will bring in over $300,000 in tax money annually, but will cost the town over $600,000 in expenses, making Bristol property owners foot the bill for the over $300,000 loss. Brady Sullivan said they would submit a new Fiscal Impact Statement that would show $0 net revenue, but they have not done so. The Planning Board said it is allowing them to submit it after they get approvals. That doesn’t make sense.

Likewise with the required Traffic Study. Brady Sullivan submitted the old traffic study that was done one day after a snowstorm that dropped over one foot of snow in February, 2008. Again, the Planning Board said they could submit a traffic study after the Master Plan approval.

It just is not possible for the Planning Board, and now, the Town Council to make intelligent and informed decisions on Brady Sullivan’s proposal to change the Zoning Laws on the size of the project without this important information.

So please join me in asking the Town Council to delay their vote until the updated studies are submitted and reviewed by the town’s independent consultant.
