Portsmouth launches a new summer concert series

The Portsmouth Parks & Recreation Department is offering its inaugural summer music and entertainment series.

Events are free and open to the public, concessions are available for purchase and there are children’s activities. Bring chairs and a picnic basket. Should it rain, bring an umbrella.

The schedule

  • Thursday, June 27: Cee Cee and the Riders at 6:30 p.m. at Sandy Point Beach.
  • Tuesday, July 9: Family Night with the Toe Jam Puppet Band at Glen Park at 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 25: The 40 at The Leonard Brown House at 6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 11: Family Day with Illusionist David Garrity and comedy-juggler Bryson Lang at 12:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 20, Country Wild Heart at 6:30 p.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
