Your fireworks guide – 6 shows in 3 nights

Weather permitting, the skies will be flashing and booming throughout this region next week, with six separate fireworks shows planned in the area from July 2 to 4. There is one (Providence) scheduled for Tuesday, July 2; two (East Providence and Bristol) scheduled for Wednesday, July 3; and three more scheduled for Thursday, July 4 (Fall River, Portsmouth and Newport).
 
Here's a quick look at what and where:
 
Tuesday, July 2
  • Along the waterfont off India Point Park, Providence, beginning at 9 p.m.
Wednesday, July 3
  • Bristol: 9:30 p.m. over Bristol Harbor
  • East Providence: Celebration and viewing at Pierce Memorial Stadium

Thursday,, July 4

  • Fall River: 9:30 p.m., off a barge in the Taunton River, 1338 Davol St.
  • Newport: 9:15 p.m. over Newport Harbor  
  • Portsmouth: 9:30 p.m., hosted by the Escobar family at their Middle Road farm

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
