The Tiverton football team fell 28-6 to Juanita Sanchez during its homecoming game on Friday night. Senior quarterback John Rybak ran 70 yards for a touchdown on a quarterback option for the Tigers lone score. Tiverton dropped to 0-5 in Division 4 and despite the loss, head coach Andy Gacioch sees improvement in his young and inexperienced team every week as senior defensive back Tyler Reindeau and junior linebacker Hamza Mehmood made big plays defensively for Tiverton.  Reindeau picked off a Cavaliers pass and Mehmood jumped on a fumble.

"Our defense continues to make progress," he said. "They are beginning to understand the defensive concepts. The improvement has been more noticeable over the past few weeks, especially when looking at our halftime scores."

The offense continues to struggle due to their inexperience, Coach Gacioch said. He and the staff put together a few trick-plays this week for the Tigers to work on to help keep the team motivated in the second half of the season.

"Our inexperience creates challenges," he siad. "We may put together one positive play, only to follow it with two or three negative plays. It’s difficult to sustain drives and put points on the board."

"The coaching staff put together some trick plays to give us a few different looks offensively, but just as importantly, we wanted to give the players something new and fun to work on. We want to continue developing as a team while keeping the game enjoyable for the players."
